It’s a new year with new stuff to love!
I hope this first PP&Ts blog of the year finds you all well. December in my house is a whirlwind, like I’m sure it is for most all of you. Besides keeping up with regular day-to-day life, we have other obligations that are associated with the holiday season. Holiday decorating, festive events, gift shopping and wrapping, family/friend gatherings and extra baking/cooking to just name a few.
I have gotten good about not putting too much on myself and my family during the holidays but as you know any extra “stuff” can add stress to our lives. That is why I was so glad my hubby and I (no kiddos) got to take a date afternoon a few days after Christmas. The restaurant that we went to for dinner actually made this list. If you are local to the Triad I highly recommend trying it out.
I didn’t really set any New Year’s resolutions for myself this year. How often do they truly pan out anyhow?? But I have pledged myself to being more consistent in areas of my life that I’m already committed. Those three things are: eat right and more regular in my workouts, adding more experiences to our (my family & friends) lives and finally, consistency with posting here on Plaid, Pearls & Toddler stains. I purchased a handy planner to help me with all this. That also made today’s list.
So without further ado, here are my top favorite things for this first week of 2017.
- The Little Doe Moccs –I adore moccasins on little feet! Currently, there are a lot of companies and small business making and selling them. I have tried a few and have found that my favorite site to buy baby moccs is thelittledoe.com. They are genuine soft leather and their prices are reasonable (plus, they often run specials). Especially when you have to up shoes sizes often for growing feet. They have a variety of colors; they even sell moccasin boots and sandals. Here is my little SJ sporting a few of their moccs.

- Cin Cin Burger Bar – (Winston-Salem, NC) My husband and I are making a conscious effort to take more dates and kid free moments with each other. We had one of these glorious afternoons last week and decided to try a new restaurant. After seeing a few friends post on social media about Cin Cin Burger Bar, I decided that was where we were eating. Best decision ever!! The wait would have been about 30 minutes (around 6:30pm on a Wednesday) but since we were kid-free we nabbed two seats at the bar. The atmosphere has a 20s prohibition era vibe and the names on the menu go along with this same theme. Our pallets were pleased with our menu choices. I ordered the Turkey Trot burger and the hubby got the Bootlegger burger. For an extra fun addition to my meal I order the Giggle Water. This drink is a mixture of Prosecco, Angostura, and lemon with a Rock Candy stick dipped in. There are lots of bubbles and you truly can’t help but giggle. Cin Cin Burger Bar is on my must go back list of this year (this month if I get my way haha)!
- Blogilates 2017 Planner – As last year was coming to a close I found myself scrambling to find a new day planner. I had loved my jumbo size Lilly Pulitzer planner but I was curious if there was another planner out there that would fit my personal needs better. After much Google searching my computer started catching on and would throw up different Planner ads at me as I scrolled through social media sites. Finally one caught my eye. It was through a fitness site that I follow on Facebook. Blogilates offers many workout ideas and guess what, they also have their own planner. It is a bit pricey so I read through the description and pictures carefully to make sure it was the perfect choice for me. It has a way for you to keep track of your daily food and water intake, plus your workouts. I already feel more motivated to keep up with healthy habits with this tool by my side.
Let’s hear about something/somewhere you are loving this week. Look forward to hearing from you all. Have an amazing weekend!
