What’s Happening Wednesday

For many of you this coming week is the last week of summer vacation. So what fun things could you all do to end this summer with a bang? Take a look at this list of ideas for a fun-filled day vacation.

Kersey Valley – With attractions like the high ropes course, laser tag, ziplines and much more there is almost something for everyone. This is a great place for one last amazing summer outing. City Lake Park – It’s hard to believe there is so much summer fun packed into one park! This park has fishing, kayaking, pool with waterslides, train and merry-go-round rides, miniature golf and more. City Lake Park is located at 602 W Main St., Jamestown, NC. Click here for hours and pricing.

Tweetsie Railroad – Tweetsie holds childhood memories for many of us. It is still an amazing place, if not more so now. Why not take your children for a day trip to somewhere that used to bring you great joy? Tweetsie is located at 300 Tweetsie Railroad Lane, Blowing Rock, NC 28605. Wet-n-Wild Emerald Pointe – Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe is the largest water park in both the Carolinas. It has more than 36 rides and attractions. Grandfather Mountain – Take time away from it all and experience nature’s beauty at Grandfather Mountain. This is the location of the Mile High Swinging Bridge! Visit here for more information on the area and events you can attend.

Carowinds – Located on the NC/SC border, this amusement park recently opened their newest attraction, Fury 325, the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster. Carowinds also has a large waterpark that can be a day event on its own. Carowinds is located at 14523 Carowinds Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28273. North Carolina Zoo – The North Carolina Zoo is seated on a 2,200-acre tract of land; approximately 500 acres of this property have been developed into one of the largest “natural habitat” zoos in the United States. The animals are given enclosures that mimic their natural habitats to include trees, ponds, rocks, grass and dirt. They currently have a Dino World exhibit. U.S. National Whitewater Center – If your family is more into outdoor physical activity type fun then the Whitewater Center is for you. The U.S. National Whitewater Center is a non-profit outdoor recreation and athletic training facility for whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking. It is located at 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214. Their website describes each of the activities they offer plus pricing and hours.

Oak Hollow Park – Oak Hollow is a favorite site for all types of activities, including pleasure boating, fishing, skiing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking.  Bank fishing is available in the Marina area.
